April is Autism Acceptance Month!

In 2025, the Autism Society celebrates 60 years of fostering meaningful connections, empowering individuals, and advocating for the rights of the Autism community. This milestone reaffirms our mission to create a more inclusive society where everyone is valued, accepted, and supported. As part of Autism Acceptance Month this April, we proudly launch the Autism Is campaign, an initiative that highlights the diverse experiences of the Autism community and moves beyond awareness to true acceptance.

“For six decades, the Autism Society has worked to ensure that individuals and families have access to the resources, services, and supports they need to thrive,” said a spokesperson from the Autism Society. “This Autism Acceptance Month, we invite everyone to be part of a movement that centers on inclusion, understanding, and celebrating the strengths of the Autism community.”

Autism Is: A Movement for Meaningful Change

The Autism Is campaign recognizes that Autism is more than a diagnosis—it is identity, community, and a lived experience that encompasses both challenges and triumphs. By sharing authentic stories and perspectives, the campaign fosters a culture of acceptance and belonging. Throughout April, the Autism Society of Central New York will engage the community through events, educational resources, and advocacy initiatives that uplift Autistic voices and create pathways for meaningful inclusion.

For 60 years, the Autism Society has remained committed to ensuring that every person in the Autism community is connected to the support they need, when they need it. With over 70 affiliates nationwide, we directly serve more than half a million individuals annually through advocacy, education, resources and community programming. Annually, we reach more than 13 million people with educational resources across safety initiatives, employment, health and wellbeing, and more. Looking ahead, we will continue to champion the needs of the Autism community and drive forward initiatives that promote acceptance, accessibility, and opportunity for all.
